We, the Saint Mary’s Academy of Capiz community, faithful to our Ignacian Marian identity, witness to the loving compassion of Jesus, our Teacher. We embrace new horizons with hope and nurture our growth as we journey together towards inner, moral and social transformation for the common good.

Goals and Objectives

Saint Mary's Academy of Capiz is a Catholic School that is an instrumentality of the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary that aims to provide within its community of students and personnel Catholic values. Its goal is to provide an educational program and environment animated by Catholic doctrine, beliefs, teachings, traditions and practices, the exercise of which is protected by, among others, Article III, Section 5 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution. 

In order for us to approximate our vision and live our mission, we dedicate all our efforts and resources to transform the members of the SMAC family into becoming discerning, proficient and skilled Ignacian Marians with unwavering faith in God (FAITH), passion in giving the best of who and what they are (EXCELLENCE) and genuine humility to serve society in varied socio-cultural settings (SERVICE).

INSTITUTIONAL OBJECTIVES

Saint Mary’s Academy of Capiz adheres to the Department of Education’s K to 12 Program which covers Kindergarten and 12 years of Basic Education (six (6) years of Primary Education, four (4) years of Junior High School [JHS], and two years of Senior High School [SHS]) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

The K to 12 Program aims to

Senior High School is two years of specialized upper Secondary Education. Students may choose a specialization based on aptitude, interests, and school capacity. The choice of career track will define the content of the subjects a student will take in Grades 11 and 12. Each student in Senior High School can choose among three tracks: Academic; Technical-Vocational-Livelihood; and Sports and Arts. The Academic track includes four strands: Accountancy Business and Management (ABM); Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS); Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and General Academic Strand (GAS).

Saint Mary’s Academy of Capiz is granted Government Permit No. SHS-077 s. 2016 to operate the Senior High School Program – Academic Track – STEM, ABM and GAS Strands.

Subject Area Objectives

Christian Living (CL)

Develop a personal knowledge and intimacy with the Triune God, love and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Mother Ignacia, and commitment to the mission of the Church.

English:

Access varied information and critically and creatively use language conventions, principles, strategies and skills in (1) interacting with others, (2) understanding and learning other content areas, and (3) fending for themselves in whatever field of endeavour they may engage in both oral and written forms to enhance their life of faith, excellence and service.

Math:

Exhibit competence and appreciation of the fundamentals of Mathematics and judicious application of skills and processes towards formation of critical thinking and sound judgment in solving mathematical problems and as applied in real life context. 

Science:

Demonstrate understanding of basic science concepts, apply science process skills, exhibit scientific attitudes and values to solve problems critically, innovate beneficial products, protect the environment and conserve resources, protect life and enhance its integrity and promote wellness of people. Make informed and unbiased decisions about social issues that involve each of the diverse aspects of science and technology, appreciate and preserve the beauty of the natural environment by fulfilling one’s responsibility as a steward of God’s creation.

Filipino:

Nalilinang ang kakayahang komunikatibo, replektibo at kritikal na pag-iisip at pagpapahalagang pampanitikan gamit ang iba’t ibang teksto at media tungo sa pambansang pagkakakilanlan, cultural na literasi at patuloy na pagkatuto upang makaagapay sa mabilis na pagbabagong nagaganap sa daigdig tungo sa katarungan, kapayapaan at pangangalaga sa buhay at kalikasan.

AralingPanlipunan

Naipamamalas ang malalim na pag-unawa sa kaugnayan ng kasaysayan, heograpiya, lipunan, kultura, pamahalaan at ekonomiya tungo sa pambansang pagkakakilanlan, pag-iingat at pangangalaga sa mga likas na yaman, paggalang at pagpapanatili sa iba’t ibang kultura, pagganap sa mga tungkulin at responsibilidad bilang isang mabuting mamamayan na nagpapanatili ng isang demokratikong pamahalaan at pagtataguyod ng pambansang ekonomiya at kaunlaran tungo sa kapayapaan ng bansa at ng buong daigdig.

Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH)

Demonstrate understanding of the visual and aural domains of arts and music towards creative self-expression, perform the fundamental exercises, dances, sports and promote physical fitness and lifelong wellness.

Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE)

Manifest work skills and ethics essential for making an intelligent choice of a vocation or career, acquire specialized training in computer literacy, entrepreneurial skills, scientific and technical occupations and practice observance on work ethics enabling him/her to be a responsible member of the family and the community where he/she belongs.
